My graduate collection intends to capture the positive cultural aspects of migration. It was my aim to approach the topic in an abstract and conceptual way conveying a positive feeling and delivering a different perspective on events connected to the most recent refugee crisis.
Throughout history, migration shows highly interesting and beautiful developments of cultural exchange and metamorphoses of cultures and identities between nations. Just like phenomena in nature such as the organic merging and separation of rivers, the concept of migration can be seen as an extremely positive and powerful process.
The idea to use organic lines which part and come together, celebrating the beauty of migration has lead me towards a unique design approach which applies to both my fabric manipulations and my creative cutting.
